Sketch-a-day 057

So stinking busy these next two weeks. Expect sporadic updates as I slowly lose my mind. Woo finals!

So I finally got my hands on an H.P. Lovecraft book. Quick Sketch tonight of "The Statement of Randolph Carter". Only 3 stories in. So awesome.

This just a quick sketch, but the chunky shadows are so awesome! Also, this post just gave me the weirdest word verification ever.

This I like. Are these more characters from a world/culture you have going? they look similar to a few other character designs.

Thanks guys.

Alex, it's more of just me trying to unify a style a bit more. And as far as just sketching out of my head, it's just what I pull out of there first. Just a coincidence I keep drawing graveyards, crosses, and trenchcoats haha.

I'm thinking that this will slowly become my Mahan assignment, with a reworked composition and stuff. Full color.

Awesome sketch. I'm also really digging the sketch collage from below - reminds me of James Jean's sketchbook pages. Great stuff.

really like this b&w illo and the stylization of the characters reminds me of Mike Mignola`s earlier stuffs somehow. great as usual!

Mmmmm, tastytasty Lovecraft stories. I've only actually read a few, but they were great sources of inspiration. Enjoy!

Love love love this. And yeah, wouldn't mind seeing this reworked either! Sketchwise, I like how cleanly the brush strokes are laid down, but still retain a certain expressionistic quality.
Dude. Manly Mustache Man = win.

Mmmm, lovecraft! The Rats In the Walls will always be my personal favorite.
